Colours since the 90s have always been a distinctive feature of Berlin’s street and a symbol for the urban freedom, being able to contrast malinconic winters, gray backgrounds and urbanity borders with vitality and getting recognized as street art. Colour means freedom, freedom means vitality. And this is even more true nowadays, where urban freedom is facing gentrification in a controversial way. Will colours survive and remain in the city as freedom’s symbol or will be street art simply disappear or “sold” as decoration?
